The UK Autumn months can be some of the best times to see our beautiful countryside. The colours on the trees, the sound of the brook at the bottom of your garden, and those wrapped up romantic walks as you explore somewhere new.
And it couldn’t be more true than in one of Britain’s famous areas of outstanding natural beauty: the Midford Valley. Home to a section of the Sustrans 24 route, Two Tunnels Greenway, and just minutes from the UNESCO World Heritage city of Bath, the Midford Valley is one of the south west’s unsung gems.
The landscape is an ideal holiday destination for anyone who loves wildlife, from the species of birds to walking amongst the wild flowers under the cover of Autumn fall trees. The Valley isĀ also the home of the staggering Midford Castle (pictured above). The castle is privately owned and once belonged to the hollywood star, Nicholas Cage.
Tucking Mill Lane, where you’ll find our three gorgeous rural escape holiday cottages, twists and turns through the Valley. The Lane came into fame through William Smith, arguably one of Geology’s finest heroes. Smith is widely credited as being the first to create a nationwide geological map.
There’s some truly great sites to see and wildlife to relax amongst this Autumn. We’ve still got some late availability on some of our properties, so come along and stay with us! For any fishermen amongst you, the cottages also have private rights to fly-fishing on the brook, so it’s a good opportunity to get away from city life and fish in the haven of calm that is the Midford Valley.
