Deciding where to go on holiday can be a tough ask, and more often than not you’ll find yourself compromising on the things you want. You don’t have to compromise at Tucking Mill. We’ve got the best of both worlds in our award-winning self-catering cottages, whether you fancy a romantic break in Brooks’ View, a wildlife haven with Fishermen’s Retreat, or a special weekend in Tucking Mill View – all three cottages are just 12 minutes drive from the city of Bath.
That means you can enjoy the scenery and tranquility of the Midford Valley as well as the hot attractions and nightlife of Bath city centre. Spend an afternoon fly-fishing by the private Midford Brook, before enjoying a meal at one of Bath’s many restaurants. If you love Italian, we recommend a visit to Sotto Sotto – a superb little venue just a short walk from Pulteney Bridge that does food and service to an exceptional level.
But there’s more to our countryside retreats than their iconic location. All properties benefit from free WiFi throughout, on-site private parking and private terrace areas. Inside they have luxury 1200 pocket spring beds for the perfect nights sleep, and a stove in the lounge to keep you warm on those evenings with a good book or your favourite TV show. What’s more the kitchens are modern and well equipped, ready for your self-catering needs.
Just outside your door in Brooks’ View and Fishermen’s Retreat is your own private garden. While a minute’s walk from Tucking Mill View and you’ll find the Two Tunnels Greenway, a popular walking and cycle route. Just ten minutes walk from all three cottages are two excellent pubs that serve great countryside grub for those evenings you don’t fancy taking it on yourself or going into the city. There’s also a lovely deli just up the hill.
On those days you do fancy going into Bath you can either hop on one of the regular buses that run up to Combe Down every half an hour, or make the most of our deal with the local taxi company, who will get you anywhere in Bath city centre from the cottages for no more than £12 per journey – ideal if you fancy a drink or two.
