Bath Holidays: Winter is Just Around the Corner

Home » Social » Bath Holidays: Winter is Just Around the Corner

Few places look quite as stunning and engrossing as the English countryside during the winter. A couple of years ago, snow fell here at Tucking Mill and left the Midford Valley tranquil in this beautiful soft white coat.

Even on clear, snow-free winter days there’s something absorbing about a walk through the valley’s many footpaths, or getting cosy with a loved one in front of the authentic wood-burning stove in a retreat far from the buzz of day-to-day life.

One of our most popular cottages during the winter is the romantic retreat, Brooks’ View. After waking up from your king-sized 1200 pocket-sprung bed, you can look out across your private garden and down to the brook, with the horses and countryside animals out to your left behind the trees.

It is a true haven of calm, despite being just 10 minutes’ drive from Bath city centre, a UNESCO world heritage site with numerous attractions, alluring restaurants, bars and nightlife. The cottage also has a sizeable bathroom with a Victoria roll top claw bath and a walk-in shower, so you can relax in luxury when you return from a city visit, or an afternoon fly-fishing on the brook at the bottom of the garden.

The Royal Crescent in the snow, not far from Brooks’ View.

While Brooks’ View is a must-visit destination in the winter, it’s also popular throughout the year and is gaining a reputation as the best self-catering destination in the Bath area for honeymoons, babymoons and anniversaries.

It’s easy to see why when you’re surrounded by the Midford Valley, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in its own right. There’s also a charming deli just a 15 minute walk away and plenty of country pubs along the footpaths that serve delicious food throughout the day. All these little bits help make Brooks’ View the holiday to remember.

We’ve currently got a very popular holiday package perfect for romantic holidaymakers. It offers you a continental breakfast on your first morning, a bottle of Prosecco on arrival, and an optional flower bouquet. The package starts from just £370 for two adults and a three night stay, letting you settle into the picture-perfect cottage and get down to what really matters in no time: you and your loved one spending quality time with one another.

If that wasn’t enough, you might be as excited as we were to know that Tucking Mill Self-Catering is the Luxury Travel Guide’s “Best Self-Catering Provider – UK” as of 2016. This adds to our award-winning streak for Brooks’ View, which also holds a TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence, a 9.1 Booking.com Superb rating, both the Walkers’ Welcome and Cyclists’ Welcome awards, and its 4 star Gold Quality in Tourism award (Visit England).
