Why we love the Holburne Museum…

There’s no doubt that Bath is one of the world’s most culturally rich cities and one of our finest attractions is the Holburne Museum. The Holburne, located in the Sydney Pleasure Gardens just minutes from The Old Smithy Loft apartment, is the city’s first public art gallery and a Grade I listed building.

Based on the original collection of Sir William Holburne, artists in the collection include Gainsborough, Guardi, Stubbs, Ramsay and Zoffany.

Until the 5 June you can still catch the wonderful ‘Impressionism: Capturing Life’ exhibition, which features impressionists’ take on figure. The exhibition is sponsored by Bath Spa University and features artists who exhibited at the first impressionist exhibition of 1874 including names such as Edgar Degas, Berthe Morisot, Camille Pissarro, Pierre-Auguste Renoir and Alfred Sisley.

You can also catch music at the evening entertainment night ‘Up Late’ on Friday 3 June and a whole range of other exhibitions featured at the museum.

The Holburne Museum’s Opening Hours

The Holburne Museum opening hours are daily 10am to 5pm (Sunday and Bank Holiday 11am to 5pm). The Holburne is closed 24 to 26 December and 1 January.
