Discover the magic of Christmas in Bath this winter, with the return of the award-winning Bath Christmas Market from Thursday 28th November—Sunday 15th December. Prepare to enjoy 18 days of festive joy, with 150 sparkling chalets set adorn the cobbled streets of this historic city. From handicrafts to homemade bakes, decorations to personalised presents, you’re sure to find that something special for yourself or your loved one.
Browse round the varied selected of stalls, each housed by local makers and designers keen to showcase their artisan gifts, allowing you to shop for everything on your Christmas list in one place. Help to support Bath’s small independent business by buying local, including a range of pop-up chalets on Bath Street, which are around for a limited-time only. This year the market welcomes 30 new businesses into the fold, each with their own specialist range of gifts on offer.
In amongst the boutique items, you can also find a wealth of scrumptious, hearty delights to satisfy your appetite; from continental burgers, specialist vegan food, or a hog roast, with plenty of sweet treats to choose from as well, such as caramelised nuts, waffles and crepes. There are also plenty of vendors providing comforting hot cocoa and aromatic mulled wine to keep you feeling toasty and if the cold gets too much, you can always venture indoors and experience the cosy alpine retreat of The Lodge on Stall Street.
This year sees the introduction of the Bath Christmas Market Experience, where you will be able to try your hand at making a festive wreath or Christmas crafts, before indulging in a delicious two-course Champagne lunch at The Ivy Bath Brasserie. If that’s not enough you may choose to top off the day with a visit to the Thermae Bath Spa for a rejuvenating view of the city from above. Down below the streets will fill with choral voices, with community choirs and brass bands blasting out your festive favourites, with Bath Abbey opening their doors for Shoppers’ Carols.
Bath Christmas Market is also proud to support a number of local charities, offering free chalets to help raise awareness and funds; be sure to check them out on Milsom and York Street. You may also want to pay a visit to the miniature Christmas garden, designed and planted by the kids at Fosseway School in nearby Radstock; a specialist school for special educational needs. No matter your age, Bath Christmas Market is guaranteed to provide an enchanting day out, off-set by the stunning Georgian architecture of the city.
