At this time of year the hundreds of trees of more than hundred varieties are transforming their leaves into a russet variety of hues, as conkers begin to fall. There is also a bountiful pear harvest throughout the autumn months and proves the best time to enjoy the changing natural landscape as it eases through from the warm summer to the frosty-outlook of a winter yet-to-come.

There is plenty to see and do for both the kids and adults, with scheduled evening bat walks, storytelling in the orchard, nature-themed crafts and a harvest festival, where you can enjoy the traditional craft of pear-pressing for the crafting of perry, available as a souvenir from the adjoining shop.

Choose to join one of the daily led-walks, or enjoy exploring at your own leisurely pace. Please note that the house in in the midst of a major transformation, due to vital conservation work, but do not let that put you off. The house is viewable by guided tour only during weekdays throughout the winter months, with weekends allowing for independent viewings. There are also opportunities to view the work behind the scenes, numbers permitting, during weekdays.
