KOMEDIA (Bath)
Komedia is Bath’s first community owned venue and is dedicated solely to providing a calendar of live entertainment. Hosting hundreds of events every year inside the beautifully restored, Grade II listed former Beau Nash cinema, Komedia offers an unrivalled programme of comedy, cinema, music and cabaret, with the Main Auditorium providing excellent sight line to the audience. The site also operates an Arts Café and works collaboratively with many of the festivals held across Bath each year, including FilmBath.
THE LITTLE THEATRE (Picturehouse Cinemas)
Built by community theatre pioneer Consuelo de Reyes and her husband in 1935, The Little Theatre initially showcased hourly documentaries and newsreels. Feature films were first shown in 1939 and since then the cinema has thrived on local support, surviving the years, as other venues across the city closed. In 1979 the former scenery store was converted into a second screen and today this small picture house still retains the charm and warmth of a 1930s cinema. They offer a wide range of drinks and snacks to enjoy in their vintage screens, including ice cream from Marshfield Farm down the road and a variety of FairTrade tea, coffee wine and craft beer.
TIVOLI Cinemas
Claiming to be cinema re-classified, this new addition to the city has proved popular for merging art-house with its retro café and bar offering. Tivoli’s fully licensed studios smartly designed interiors with luxurious sofas and are equipped with state-of-the-art laser projection technology. Guests can enjoy a wide range of drinks and platters from the café-bar and lounge, serving a seasonal menu of gourmet favourites, with an additional in-seat service. Open throughout the day, the café also serves a range of cakes, coffee and cocktails throughout the day, providing a social space where business meets pleasure.
ODEON (Bath)
Whilst it might not hold the same originality, this chain offers eight super-sized screens from which to enjoy the magic in stunning RealD 3D. Visitors can treat themselves to that added bit of luxury with premier seats, with an opportunity to soak up some cafe culture in the neighbouring Costa Coffee. There are also a range of reasonably priced restaurants within the Kingsmead Leisure complex, where the cinema is housed, allowing for an enjoyable evening out. You can also pre-book tickets online to ensure a simple and speedy experience on arrival, allowing time for dinner, before relaxing with your film of choice.
